Home Elements’ CEO Nagib Shariff has delivered a speech at the inaugural event of the UK- Foshan Business Chamber on 7 January 2019 at the Shard London. In his speech, Mr Shariff reflected on the development of the Home Elements business and its partnerships with Chinese manufacturers in Foshan.
Foshan is a major manufacturing centre in the Guangdong Province of southern China. The region specialises in the production of building materials, ceramics, high-tech electronics and furniture, among other specialisms. The region exported US$ 700m worth of goods to UK companies alone in 2017.
This event marked the formal opening of the UK Foshan Business Chamber, which aims to foster business relations between the UK and Foshan. Among the attendees was Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy, Mr Haitian Lu, Chinese and British business leaders and representatives from the UK Government.
Home Elements has been manufacturing and sourcing goods from suppliers in Foshan for over 15 years across a broad range of products. As one of the most established UK businesses manufacturing in Foshan, Home Elements was invited to talk about the development of manufacturing in Foshan and to share advice with other UK-based companies looking to produce goods from China.
Mr Shariff discussed the initial challenges Home Elements faced nearly twenty years ago when it first attempted to manufacture interior and building materials. He explained how support from Chinese manufacturers was critical to Home Elements growth, noting that “Great working relationships have been extremely easy to develop and maintain”.
Mr Shariff noted that Chinese suppliers were especially willing to partner and share their knowledge. This has enabled Home Elements to develop deep expertise and experience across many construction and interior products. And suppliers' willingness to hone their products to meet exacting client demands has helped the business achieve impeccable outcomes for its commercial and residential clients.
